Would have been cool to do the Reeboks and Oakley’s
I'm surprised no salomon boots have been tested or cut in half. A lot of people swear by Salomon Quests for backpacking / hunting. I own a pair of Quest 4's which are the most comfortable hiking boots I've owned. I've always wondered about the construction / durability though as so many people question durability in reviews.
Not sure if a boot that melts can be classed as “tactical”
If it melts or drips, it’s no good.
When I was in Iraq I bought a pair of Converse desert Tactical boots. I still have them. I would love to see you evaluate them. They are zip-ups but I have never had any trouble with the zippers.
I wore danners when I was in the military. Most comfortable I could find.
I had a pair of Danner hikers that were a 4.5" mid boot and I only got 2 seasons out of them. Granted, I put hundreds of miles on them in that time, but for the money they cost, I want thousands of miles out of them. To be fair, I know they've been a good brand in the past, but I feel they've been a victim of brand hijackers just like Bunn Coffee makers, Craftsman tools, Nike, Popcorn Indiana and others.
These are junk. All leather Danners are the best model. You get what you pay for
Every shoe in this list is a toy… I own the lowa zypher mid and its sole chips and will not last …. This is a boot with cheap quality sole… It just looks tactical but its not…. Soldiers beware
Please do the "Canadian Iron Rangers!" The WM. Moorby 2817
You should do a video on Haix, I had a pair of their Airpower R1s for like 10 years of constant use, they were amazing, but they're like $450.
I need to see this man cut up some haix boots.
What about a video of cheap amazon combat boots?
I was gonna comment this on the work boot vid but it fits better here. I’d love to see a vid on the bike sfb boots. I have a pair of the gen2 for work and I personally love the look and feel but I’m curious on well made they actually are. Thanks love the vids
Still the best combat boot I've worn is the Corcoran jump boot. I wore those in uniform before each service went to these cheap suede colored boots.
Wow, what a great informative helpful channel you've created! I love it because I really dig boots, especially combat tactical styles. I've wore Nikes ever since I could remember until my brother turned me on to Belleville boots years ago. I've never worn anything but tactical boots ever since then. Due to America's decade long war on terror 795V desert tan surplus Belleville boots have always been abundant and cheap to obtain from local fleamarkets near Louisville where I reside. I'm gonna try to watch your video uploads as much as possible from now on! Thanks for your time, courtesy and dedication, it's appreciated very much!
I know it's a really fringe boot nowadays, but I really recommend picking up Waxi boots if you're a hot weather person. Solid construction, all leather, and at a pretty descent price point.
Boots i would like to see cut apart. Keen Cincinnati. And san jose. Also any han wag. I purchased. Shoe from them. It is the closest shoe I have ever wore that feels like a boot. Leather liners and omg break in has been rough. Thanks
If you're making another video like this you should look at the Haix Black Eagle "athletic 2.0 V GTX Hige Sage. They are made by Haix Germany. Very high quality tactical boot.
BLACK EAGLE ATHLETIC 2.0 V GTX HIGH/SAGE
This is interesting. I have the Merrells, bought them because i wanted plain black hiking boots any apparently that's a lot to ask outside tactical boots, that and they have 2E wide sizes which is important considering I'm more like 4E. They've been pretty good but they're a little high for my liking. You need hectic tall socks or the corners where the zip section joins wil be digging into your calf. I find the arches a little high but other than those complaints they do the job. I am getting very tempted by the comment section to buy the Lowas now.
You should try haix there all leather and waterproof.
im looking for a t.boot that has a very durable outsole, not like the tin ones in here, that would scratch out in a year standing idle.
any suggestions?
You should definitely do Salomon Quest 4D Forces 2 (The ones at 0:46). Those are probably going to surprise you, I'd say they are much better than Lowas. Also Nike SFB Gen 2s are pretty cool and higher quality.
Please do more of these tactical boot tests.
Surprised the Rocky S2V didn't make the list
Motorcycle boots?
Great job! Thanks
Commenting 2 months late to jump on the bates GX8 train. I owned 2 pairs when I worked ems and still have the second pair almost 10 years later as a winter boot and they're still going strong with heavy use. Given what I've seen on your channel I would think they wouldn't last due to some materials that either seem synthetic or coated, but they really preform well still
Would love to see a breakdown of the danner fullbore tactical midsize boot if you are planning on doing more of these. I have them and they seem like good boots.
I would love to see some Haix or Meindl boots in this kind of test! Great work, love your videos!
Glad to see zypher review. I've enjoyed mine a lot
I loved the review!
i just went through your video's and saw nothing on backpacking/ hiking boots. Could you please make some vids about them?
Bates 1621 are the Navy basic issued boot. I just want to see your thoughts on them. Pretty cheap but all leather steel toe.
I found LOWAs broke down too quickly… I switched to AKU and I'm not going to be looking back. A much sturdier boot.
Can anyone recommend the best boot for ankle support?
Beathability test on these types of boots would be really useful information
for airsoft ive been using Columbia Bugga boots , waterproof is very important and they are durable and waterproof although not the most comfortable with my narrow flat feet .im considering something like Nicks that i can get a narrow size for comfort but the 500$ price tag is something holding me back. one thing against the Columbia's, playing airsoft one day i did step through a nail on a pile of wood boards , so they dont do that well
I wouldn't want to wear any of these boots as a soldier, they are nothing but "cosplay" accessories, f-all fire / heat resistance & all of them would melt, in reality they offer bugger all longevity in a tactical field environment.
They are probably ok for civil police duty but you definitely wouldn't want to go to war for months in any of them.
I've used the non-goretex coyote version of those Danner Tachyons for a couple years now in the Army, and I'll say that I am never buying any other boot at full price besides those, they are simply awesome!
If you want to walk far crosscountry with a backpack, you can use regular hiking boots. They’re usually built pretty rigid to protect your ankles from stepping on uneven and shifting ground. Not lightweight. On the other hand, they do not need to be as soft and spongy as these seem to be, because nothing out there in nature is going to be as hard and hurtful to walk on as regular city concrete. Even asphalt is nicer to walk on than most sidewalk pavement, or the fake marble in shopping malls.
So what does ”tactical” actually mean? Shouldn’t they be built with… I dunno, something really tough like cordura instead of regular nylon? Shouldn’t they have some qualities of urban workboots, like toe protection or a sole that won’t let a nail through if you step on it? Kevlar lining against shrapnel? Materials that are flame resistant – I hear fires are common in war zones?
My impression of these things is that they are made for people standing and walking in urban settings, who want something that looks like a boot, but with the basic qualities of sneakers. Tell me if I’m missing something.
I liked the lace-eyelet test, but I don't think it paints the whole picture. I had a merel hiking boot with metal eyelets that were quite sharp. These sharp edges were cutting the laces while I was tightening them, so this kind of test doesn't realy show the expected durability of laces IMHO. A jig which would pull a lace up and down through an eyelet, without too much force to show if there is any significant abrasion would be more telling for the durability of the laces.
Is there a chance to make a similar comparison of climbing / mountaneering boots? I feel that it has potential for a three part series as well, assessing a couple of models per different settings. High altitude mountaneering boots should be a real piece of art!
The 5.11s look like fancy hitec magnums. They are only really good for general walking about, no heavy or wet work. Comfy though lol. Merrells look good, I've had and LOVED their moab trainers. Knocked out many desert miles in them and only ruined them with sea water.
Infact, none of these boots seem to be "heavy rucking" boots. They are more like combat sneekers. They look like they're OK for clearing buildings etc where you're not carrying heavy packs, as long as they are very supportive for jumping, landing and climbing.
"Tactical" can mean so many different things. Are you looking for load carrying or agility? Will you be in hot, temperate or cold?
The boot you'd want for running and scaling objects is going to be different than the one to support your feet with a heavy load.
In warm or temperate environments, the value of waterproof is overrated as heat build up is more of a concern than water. Gore-tex boots tend to be a sauna compared to boots that aren't lined with waterproof membranes.
Can you do some jump boots ? Maybe thorogoods, rockys, and a pair of bates ?
I wear out boots every 4-5 months and have worn all of these and more including Solomon. I have to say the UnderArmour are far superior in comfort. I have plantar fasciitis and these boots help me cure it, believe that or not. The only drawback is they're not puncture resistant. For walking they are tops.
I bought a pair of the Moab’s a few months ago to replace my old Magnum Stealths, I work security so tactical / Duty in black is a must but I also need protective toe caps. I have found these boots to be very comfortable.
in europe lowas aren't as expensive, so i guess we get a better deal 😀
I'm sorry but I'll never spend 10$ a box for cereal not sorry
