The FBI Said This is the Best Handgun (and Why They’re Wrong)
In response to numerous inquiries from local law enforcement departments, the FBI undertook a comprehensive evaluation of the sidearms available in 1987 (most of which are still made today) to determine which pistol was the best. Thirteen of the most talented instructors that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had to offer all met at a range to throw down with handguns from Glock, Ruger, Smith and Wesson, Sig Sauer, and Beretta. Even a CZ-75 clone was included for good measure. So which handgun did the FBI select as the best and how did they make this determination? And why does James completely disagree with the methodology and the results of the test? Watch today’s video to find out. We also test a few of the guns from the trials and @Johnny B and @Graham Baates pitch in to assist with the field evaluation.

The trigger guard test was done for appendix carry. Rumor has it most FBI agents in the 80's would become hard as a rock the second they slid a .45 ACP handgun into their pants, sometimes crushing the trigger guard.
OK OK OK knowing the FBI as we do today (and as they have never changed since J. Edgar Hoover) anyone taking anything they have to say “but with a grain of salt” is simply to gullible. Actually anyone putting stock in any Government choices or decisions is simply to gullible. That’s is the primary reason for Biden’s importation of illegal immigrants as to build a voting block that will believe in their Government ie Pay to Play in America.
It’s a shame how corrupt they have become.
Kimber,Kimber,Kimber
I'm sure whatever one kills dogs the best.
I dont read too many FBI reports, but this committee seemed to have good intentions.. executed poorly.
glock. what else. more reliable than john wayne
Corruption.
Really a very bad video. Man you have done so much better.
Toys are made out of plastic and weapons are made out of metal
My Berretta 92 is made out of metal.
Regarding the trigger guard mallet test… Like an item on a Friday safety brief, there's a story behind it. Real curious what that story is though. (That Duke's Mayonnaise shirt tho.)
They need to switch to a makarov
I love the guys who tell you that if you hit a guy in the finger with a 45 it will take his arms off.
Hopefully, most gun owners now understand that shot placement is more important than caliber and that determines whether or not you have ended the threat which is what people call "stopping power".
You did not trust the FBI leadership's test conclusions. Many people know the FBI leadership lied against Trump & lied for the Bidens, both of them. Thank you for your gun testing insights.
"Grassy knoll of a pistol trial" — lol
Many mango seasons ago , my department was going to switch from S&W revolvers for duty carry, to a semi
Auto . I had already owned a p-226 already , and was hoping we went to
Them; but when dropped from
The third level parking garage; the p-226 was inoperable ; the Glock lost its plastic sights , but still functioned.after that we had a series of AD’s and following riots , I think
because occifers were used to a long heavy double action pull, compared to the very light after market triggers that officers were installing . Nevell Johnson got his head accidentally shot, and after that was the bad humor” don’t fuck with me or I’ll bump you with my Glock!”The problem
Is; prolonged shooting of a Glock will turn you into a flaming homosexual , and life is hard enough!I got scared and gave my G43 to my daughter before it made me switch teams. By the way, my P-226, which was made before 1983( I think ), got mistamped by the Germans as Lyson Corner Virginia, instead of Tyson Corner Virginia, which was the distributor at that time, do you think that adds any collector value? Excellent video; thank you
Sounds about right.
I like that stay on the ground after you shoot 😂
Coat of many guns at 19:09 … That said I was 'Taught' (Read: trained until camp dinner, or 50 rounds) on the M1911 and P226 so I myself like those two best, with the 1911 winning out due to my oversized hands.
Most police departments including the FBI pick firearms like they pick their vehicles… adequate will do. Their choice of calibers tends to follow the same logic.
No sane person could argue that the Ford Explorer, Taurus or Crown Vic are the best preforming vehicles on the road, yet so many departments choose them because they too are adequate.
Choosing one’s side arm and caliber based on what police departments choose will give one an adequate result, but it will not provide an ideal result.
Glocks are ok but there are other manufactures that are hands down better. 9mm is ok, but again their are chamberings that surpass .9mm performance resolutely.
Choose wisely
Is there a "Trump Raid" commemorative edition?
I read an article that said only the 10mm beat every test the Federal Bureau of Incompetence had.Back in the day the bren 10 and s&w 1076 were big players.I had a sig 220 and loved it it never malfunctioned i could drill your teeth with it all day at 15m.Another article these guys fired 10k rounds out of a sig 220 in one day all it dud was break it in where as a 1911 would need to be rebuilt.I bet the new sig in 10mm would beat anything.
the trigger guard yhing,I think in case you fall on it or idk
Sir, I will have you know… I would trust Taco Bell farts before I trust any government agency
The FBI's information about firearms is like Ford telling us that the Pinto is a safe vehicle. Why anyone takes the FBI's information about firearms astounds me. Those guys have no idea about quality firearms, much less how to use them. Now if we are talking hairgel, awesome wallet holsters or skinny fit suits, the FBI twats are on point. Otherwise, listen to your local combat verteran or your local cop about what guns are GTG.
I had a job offer and acceptance once with the FBI. They canceled the job offer five days later. Total jerked off of me and waste of taxpayers money doing the background check with all the interviews. So the FBI can go FRACK themselves and the 🐐 they rode into Quantico, Virginia on as far as I am concerned. It hurt my career potential with the IRS. Hope that if Trump is re-elected, he cleans out the bureau like eating a big dose of prunes.
the flagging of that hi power operator made me wince
The 1911 is missing from that test
Test a up date gun those are old test & not enough guns up there to test just the guns they like just test more guns
To break down a sig to clean, you have to pull down the trigger guard and hold it to the side, that probably why smacking it with a mallet would render it useless
