"After the Revolutionary War, the Congress of the Confederation created the United States Army on 3 June 1784 to replace the disbanded Continental Army." The United States Bill of Rights was ratified in 1791. The 2nd Amendment states what it does because it was recognized that even though a standing army was being formed, the Revolutionary army was formed by armed individual citizens. Their rights were not to be overturned simply because the centralized government was forming a standing army. There's a reason for that. America was not to become the very thing they left when they came to the New World.
No Government yet devised and instituted in the long history of mankind has ever disarmed its Citizenry for the safety and security of its Citizenry. Every Government thus far has disarmed its Citizenry because it wishes to exert powers and policies that a Well Armed Citizenry would never tolerate. And once a Government begins to Disarm, little steps at a time, it will not stop until it has either nothing left to Disarm, or it has been stopped by some force from proceeding further.
It's impossible that Democrats are completely ignorant of the fact that criminals remain largely unaffected by Gun Control. It's been 88 years since the patently Unconstitutional National Firearms Act was passed; 54 years since passage of its 1968 Amendment; and 36 years since its 1986 Amendment. I won't get into California's first overtly racist Gun Control law in 1854, or its overtly racist Gun Control law in 1967, though it is important for everyone to read up on the racist roots of Gun Control. There are so many Gun Control laws in so many States, going back decades, that there is enough information to glean from these experiments in futility. In almost every instance where a criminal has committed a crime with the use of a Firearm, they were able to do so for the simple fact that they do not obey the law.
So if Democrats are aware that criminals are not affected by Gun Control laws, then who, exactly, are they targeting with these laws? Perhaps they're convinced that they're just one more Gun Control law away from success? 20,003rd time's a charm, I s'pose. I prefer to think that they're just dumb, rather than evil. A bit of Hanlon's Razor, if you will.

Who is most assured to respect a "Gun Free Zone" sign: a Law-Abiding Gun Owner, or a criminal intent on causing harm? Leftists criticize the Armed Hero who recently stopped a mass shooting at a Mall food court (40 yards with a 9mm pistol and a c. 88% success rate within 15 seconds is mighty impressive), because the Mall happens to be a "Gun Free Zone." Did they stop for one second to consider that the would-be mass shooter ALSO went into the Mall while Armed?? One of the vapid hosts of the inane waste of airwaves, The View, absurdly claimed that the Armed Hero "broke the law" by entering a "Gun Free Zone" with a Gun. Yeah, no, he didn't. That "Gun Free Zone" is merely a policy of the Mall- clearly an ineffective one at that.

I wish Congressional Republicans would challenge their Democrat colleagues to point to the exact Clause within the Constitution that explicitly grants Congress the power to Tax, Restrict, or Ban ANY Firearm. T'would, of course, be a trick question, as no such power exists. That 1994-2004 Federal "Assault Weapons" Ban was… you guessed it, an Unconstitutional Usurpation of Power. It was also a direct violation of the "Shall Not Be Infringed" Clause of the Second Amendment. This latest attempt by Despotic Democrats to Ban so-called "Assault Weapons" would, if passed, also be an Unconstitutional Usurpation and violation of 2A. In fact, ALL Gun Control laws within the States are direct violations of the "Shall Not Be Infringed" Clause. There is but ONE Law regarding Firearms that does not (as yet, completely) violate the Right of The People to Keep and Bear Arms: the Federal NICS Background Check System. However, make it "Universal," and all things considered must be reconsidered.
