How Guns Are Advertised In The U.S.
Most of the gun debate tends to focus on firearm production, distribution and consumerism as avenues for intervention. However, on Wednesday July 27th, the Committee on Oversight and Reform, will hold a hearing with the CEOs of gun manufacturers Daniel Defense, LLC, Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc., and Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. on their role in gun violence, specifically looking at the sales and marketing of their assault rifles.
There is currently no federal regulation on how guns are advertised, but many advocates for stricter firearm laws believe limiting the marketing of assault weapons could translate to fewer gun-related deaths.

How Guns Are Advertised In The U.S.

That woman sounded like a child about to cry
It’s always the guns fault or the company that made the gun…..never the shooters or their parents or both…I can blame the lack of society’s education on firearms in general …the lack of actual mental health care… and the irresponsibility of the justice system to actually keep repeat/violent offenders locked up or in some cases just execute them
Criminals are going to criminal. kids can't even legally buy a firearm, and if they manage to get one that was already a federal crime even if they don't go out to do murder or other horrible crimes.
Gross amount of misinformation
The media used to be responsible about coverage of certain events to prevent copycat crimes. No more. Guns used to be readily available and we didn't have this problem. Its the parents. What else could it be. I know they dont like hearing that anymore than I like blame placed on me, a law abiding gun owner.
I don't think there is a solution to this problem without resorting to the kind of federal laws that ban citizens from owning true automatic weapons. I can own a true machine gun but there are way too many hoops to jump through to make that happen.
they sound like they wanna restrict knowledge hmm never thought they would do that not
Boy Scout handbooks used to have rifle advertisements in them, that was pretty cool. They also used to teach how to tie a noose though, so it was different times.
Total BS. Blame everyone and everything but they don't take personal responsibility!
(Assault weapons ) where do they get this and how is it relevant to the AR 15 ? No such thing .. Assault is an action that can be branded to any tool .. hammers , guns , rocks ,car , they are all tools .. People will do evil with whatever they can use … The politicians love to use the emotions off of the people that has experienced a devastating loss to use to their agenda …
So the Government doesn't want Citizens to have Guns. But the Government is forcing Car Manufacturers to close their doors, letting go of all of their Employees. Which in turn has a huge a terrible ripple effect to the Economy & the Job Market. Hey but let's add few hundred more Citizens to the mix why not, this Government already closed Oil,Gas,Nk plants, pulled permits!!! This President Biden &Vice President, and their Government have placed MILLIONS on the Unemployment Line do to their Planning and Executive Orders. They have taken this Country from Healthy and Wealthy to Dragging its Body Begging for CHANGE!! But hey let's get rid of those Guns and don't worry about your next MEAL or BEING HOMELESS just make sure you BUY an a ELECTRIC VEHICLE AND GET RID OF THAT GAS VEHICLE!!!! GOOOO GREENEEEEEEE!!!!!
I am not a hater of guns, but we do have a problem with guns because it appears that The U.S. is the most reckless and irresponsible country in the world when it comes to them. All we care about is the 1st and 2nd Amendment Rights and use them both in an abusive way. We at times say the most damnedest things and hide behind the 1st Amendment when a fire is lit and when it comes to guns, we demand to exercise the 2nd Amendment, but sooner or later shoot our guns out of malice. Why are we so wild and free with out restraints? Its bizarre to be the greatest country in the world but lack no discipline whatsoever.
Should we start regulating the free speech ?
We live in a nation where you won't see a commercial on TV about guns but politicians will blame guns on heinous acts yet every other commercial is from drug dealers showing you how happy you will be as long as you take their pills but no one talks about that.
The only weapons the United States needs to ban are the ATF, FBI, and IRS
I have been teaching my 11-year-old grandson to shoot. When I he knew about it he showed him an ar he said he had learned about them from Halo and other video games.
Professor Jourdan from Drew University in New Jersey and I a Drew Alum differ on the gun issue. I am a gun owner of 48 years and have fired over 300 k rounds and have never violated any lgun laws.
There was just a study that showed in 2020 and 2021 the gun buy backs did NOTHING to stop or slow down any crime's or other deaths in Philadelphia. So firearms advertising doesn't do squat to make criminals go buy gun, stupid criminals don't buy guns. The Philadelphia gun buy back proves that too. Because not one gun had been used in any crimes.
The only marketing I need for firearms is a much longer list of deaths from citizens of governments who didnt allow their people to have them
When medical errors claim 13x more, all of the top 10 causes are healthcare related, & guns make up a fraction of a single % of the total on a bad year, well I'd say priorities are misplaced. But that should've already been obvious, otherwise they wouldn't need to lie about functions or statistics. This rifle for instance is literally one of the weakest of all, only 22lr & alike are less & all popular hunting rounds are more powerful. Calling it "high powered" is a joke, but they still say it. Its like them being shock a rifle shots thru a pistol rated helmet, why wouldn't it its rated for pistols, so disingenuous. Grips are to hold, collapsing stocks are to adjust to size, "shrouds" are to prevent burns & all hunting rifles have them, & magazines have been standard reloading method for decades, demonizing common parts let alone parts that make it safer to handle is absurd & obviously an excuse. Ffs congress actually argued a stationary pc of plastic, a brace, made them auto when its an impossibility. They refuses to research & instead stuck to their ridiculous statements for hours because it served their agenda. It's exhausting but Im sure its just semantics right, lol ok sure.
Lmao 90% of gun people have never even seen these advertisements before… like where do these new channels even find this crap?
They don't just show them anywhere willy nilly…. you get what you search for. I'm not going to see add for racing helmets unless I'm on sites relating to racing helmets. Specialized tools will be marketed only on places where they know people are actually interested in such things….
So in other words… they want complete censorship of anything remotely firearm related?
How about the media stops glorifying and advertising mass shooters? Highly detailed accounts about who they are, their equipment and how they committed their atrocity… then they let the thing run for weeks and weeks and weeks… the amount of attention they give these people is fine I guess… instead of having their name lost and forgotten, they parade them around like some infamous villain for copycats to see and learn from. Good God🤦
At no point does this video mention the right to keep and bear arms is a constitutional right…. Great job cnbc
They're marketed like any other product. And like any other product, criminals use them. The end.
Just keep praying for the people that will continue to die at the hand of these guns.
Why don't they just write "If you have a short D, or no D, buy our product. Guns are good for insecure "men" everywhere."
