2023 Nissan Kicks Review | Behind the Wheel
The cat’s out of the bag. Nissan Philippines is officially launching the Kicks subcompact crossover. Its main draw is Nissan’s e-POWER technology, which combines an internal combustion engine (ICE), a small battery pack, and an electric motor. This isn’t just another hybrid, however, as the tech is evidently unique enough to potentially make an impact in the local market.

Wow.looks good in white.
I just watched the 2020 Altis video review. It was mentioned you can get up to 30km/l.
So technically the altis is more fuel efficient than the kicks based on stats mentioned.
maingay sa ahunan, sa patag okay
not recommended sa hilly road
"may sira ulong naghagis ng bato!" hahahahaha!!!! good one Caco!!!
They have the same technology in Nissan Note & they are heavily in demand in our country. The rising fuel prices have inflated them like hell. But damn they are good vehicles. It gives 25-30 km/l fuel average and this is the figure for the previous gen. The new one improves even on that. The power delivery is smooth & it actually is rapid like an EV. Nissan definitely knows that future without fuel is still way far in developing countries & also for long drives
It would really be nice if nissan applies it's e-power tech to nissan terra! Really game changer for suv Phil market! 🤔👌
Looking for affordable EV
Its the usual car review (for me they cover the nice to have)… it doesnt answer the important IFs of consumers..
Will it run if the battery dies…
what's the behavior of the generator? (how long is it off and on)
people saying battery can be replaced are "assuming"… in the philippines we will most likely not get a battery replacement in 8 to 10 years… do you think nissan will even care to manufacture batteries for a 10year old car….
in 10 years they expect you to throw that away and buy a new one…
Will think of buying one IF, Nissan will offer some discounts on batt replacement during the lifespan of the car. 😁
Equipped with airbags?
May charging port po ba?
how about the battery maintenance? how long it will last? and how much?
Can’t see the crack, magnifies it with a hammer🤣🤣
Nice one on the wind shield and Tires Changes (Aguila Glass promotion)!!! hahahahahaha…
Hi, if the gas motor just functions as generator, then why 1.2 instead if 1.0? Hinde ba mas matipid if 1.0 lang?
how many cups of coffee did you have before your review? 🙂
Regular oil change still apply here?
Paano echarge sa bahay? Hehe
…but no spare tire? hmm
ayyy may transmission tunnel. sad
1:31 😳🥹
But Toyota Hyryder hybrid & Suzuki Grand vitara strong hybrid has 1300kms Range which also has Byd hybrid batteries available in India & South Africa markets
I don't get it.
Conventional car is: Gas is needed for ICE then it powers the drive train (wheels). Thus: Gas -> ICE -> wheels. Only 3 components.
Now this car is like: Gas -> ICE -> Battery -> ePower motor -> Wheels. Now we have 5 components.
While tesla is: Electricity -> Battery -> Wheels. Same 3 components as the conventional car.
My points are:
1. Why bother putting an EV components in the car when in the end, you still NEED to put GAS into that car?
2. Progressive system designs should aim for lesser components for easier maintainability and cost efficiency. This car does the opposite. It has more parts which means higher cost to purchase and higher cost maintenance as well.
3. Real EVs are solving the problem of gas-reliance, and a Hybrid car does it half the time. While this car is trying to solve what? Just so we can call it an EV?
I agree with the commentator. Nissan really has chosen the best bridge between a full EV and an ICE car. And it's affordability and lack of range limitation are both a big part of this. Very appropriate review. BTW, I'm from the opposite side of the world in Trinidad, yet the issues are exactly the same.
no electric charging port? Pass 👎🏻
How about the battery sir how many years before expire ang how much the battery's
As usual bitin sa features from major brands and manufacturers. Kakainin na sila ng ibang brands soon. Lalo pag nakapaglabas ang Geely ng version nila.
why put an engine if you are not going to use it to run the car literally? sure electric vehicle is trending, but mind you… car batteries are not going to outlast the engine. car batteries deteriorates quickly when you use and charge it…in 5 years time, probably the effectivity of the batteries will be 60-70%, when you compare as new. YOU'LL BE SURPRISE TO KNOW THE PRICE OF BUYING A NEW REPLACEMENT BATTERY, ITS LIKE YOU BOUGHT A NEW CAR… unlike using the engine as a hybrid like the toyota cars, even the batteries are dead you can still use the car by using the good old engine to run the car. literally.
I wonder what the battery price would be. I think that's the #3 gating factor why owners don't just buy an EV because some of the prices may "Kick" to around 50K pesos to over 400K pesos for an EV, sure the battery may last 7-10 years to some, but it still a cost of a motorbike (or pre-owned car) that could due in after 10years of use.
Servicing is the big question here. Your friendly neighborhood talyer definitely wouldn't be able to service what's under the hood
Hybrids, essentially an electric car with a generator, is the missing link to an e-future for countries with poor (or without) an infrastructure for e-cars
What I wanted to know was how long do the lithium batteries last and how much does it cost to replace them.
Sorry out of topic. Is there a 2023 Nissan Navara out now? thanks
Caco is the best car guy. So entertaining
I refuse to buy nissan vehicles. They already filed for bankruptcy and the chassis is very succeptable to rust and has transmission problems. I would stay with toyota or honda
I wish for Nissan Philippines alone to bring in the #nissansakura mini EVs.
Anybody agree?
Kei cars: looks, comfort, subcompactness, ease of driving, cuteness, safety.
I wanted to own a very safe EV without spending a fortune on gas & oil change.
EV with a built-in gas powered generator 😁
Autodeal over Stanley Chi anyday.
