Blind Test // 80s Acid House Classics (Electronic Beats TV)
For this new instalment of Electronic Beats much beloved Blind Test series, we step into the world of 80’s Acid House Classics and welcome an all-star cast of Acid aficionados.
Firstly, one of the founding fathers of House Music itself, Marshall Jefferson. Fellow Chicagoan’s Tyree and K-Alexi Shelby also join the line-up, two more pioneering producers whose early works featured on the likes of D.J. International Records, Dance Mania and many other labels respectively. The UK’s Luke Vibert steps in to test his knowledge too, owner of the I Love Acid imprint alongside Posthuman and recording artist for the likes of Planet Mu, Ninja Tune, Warp and Hypercolour under his numerous aliases.
Additionally, Oliver Bondzio, one half of German Acid Techno duo Hardfloor, brings his knowledge to the table and lastly to complete the participants we welcome Ceephax Acid Crew, another UK Acid stalwart, younger brother of Squarepusher and artist on labels such as DMX Krew’s Breakin’, Lo Recordings and Planet Mu.
Please note that this video is not filmed in real time. It’s edited to create some tension so that you in front of the screen can guess as well. It doesn’t say anything about how fast the participants recognised the track etc.
All contestants receive one point for both artist and title correct, but only half a point if they can only guess the artist or the title.

Me, Spank, and Herb made ACID Track in Spank's mom's living room while we were still in school, and at that time none of us had yet to have ever met Marshal. When I did finally meet Marshall Ron Hardy had already been playing Acid Track for months and Marshall even said that he had knew about the track and even heard Ron drop it. But now he's saying that he produced it? I'm very very hurt and disappointed that he would say such thing, I thought that we were friends and I also looked up to him as a mentor. So I'm totally lost and utterly confused right now and not at all sure what the motivation would be for him to even make such a claim. I've reached out to him and my management are in the process of reaching out to Electronic Beats about this situation and the inclusion of such an obviously fraudulent claim by Marshall Jefferson in this video. Just a little research would have put them onto the falsities of his statement. This is the history of a music and a movement, let's please get it right.
Just got zapped back 33 yrs to the wicked hoof aceeed…
So I guess there are no female artists representing acid…or?
R.I.P Charanjeet Singh ( what a legend he was, way ahead of his time 🇮🇳) using 808, 303 way before Acid House was even a thing. (Charanjeet Singh – Ten Ragas To Disco Beats) 1980-82 educate more people & spread this.
Why Acid only lasted 2 good years on the mainstream and regeton , trap and that shit is neverending ??

Really surprised how long it takes them to find these classics 👀
anyone has the tracklist or a playlist with the tracks?
I love electronic music, and I like acid mixed in here and there, but this all sounds like trying to connect to the net in 92

Really enjoyed that!! Nice one 🙂
Great episode! Those coiled up cables trigger my OCD so bad 😀
‘Lack of Love’ is absolutely out of this world.
Luke and ceephax god damn
12:51 this tracks incredible
I need help, two songs been in my head for years and I cannot name them, first one was a rave track, all I can remember is that the lyrics were something like “the future is in your hands…slip away”, with lots of piano.
2nd track is an electro track, lyrics are “you think your down rhyme a Romeo just take my advice and slow your roll, you trying to be the worlds greatest most of you time is spent undercover, hey you yeah you I’m talking to you, you should be ashamed of the things you do, I heard you and your women just broke up and it’s the very same reading you trying to act tough”, can’t remember any more.
Can anyone identify Luke's headphones?
Thanks for bringing Luke Vibert to this. His Kerrier District is my favorite!
lol
who let Luke Vibert be so underrated?
last track, GENE HUNT SO UNDEERRATED LEGEND
50yo has just had his day made by remembering the names to all those tunes within first 20 seconds or so 😁
Tyree's laugh at 2.31 is perfectly in rhythm it could be part of the song
I love this so much
Once more , thank u for the education ✊
It takes a certain type of twat to try and tell Pierre what's up about acid house. everyone's a gangsta typing on thier smartphone in the toilet.
Tyree Cooper is one of my biggest favorites. 🙏 His track "Love" and those lyrics still have a very important message for everybody, especially since Loco Dice played it in the end of his "The Lab" mix.
Land of confusion 😂2nd song
❤❤❤❤
