Dushka: The Ukrainian military's modified Soviet-built machine gun
One of the most iconic machine guns ever built is the Soviet-made DShK .50 calibre heavy machine gun, better known as the ‘Dushka’ which means ‘Dear’ in Russian.
It has been used in wars from Vietnam to Syria and an adapted version is being used by the Ukrainian military.
The Dushka was originally developed in the 1930s as an anti-aircraft gun and can fire 600 rounds a minute at a range of 1.5 miles.

It’s NOT chambered in .50 cal. It’s 12.7mm. Accurate to 500m?
Велком ту СССР))) Сами то может ничего придумать, а сможем цэ Козак🤣🤣🤣🤣
Very nice but an MG42 is still king🥳 of mashineguns.
I know Ukrainians from before the war, conceited, nationalistic, contemptuous arrogant. I know workers and an educated Ukrainian, and they are all like that. And if you don't do what they want, they start insulting and attacking you. You can see it with their actor Zelenskyj, he accuses the EU of not yet paying him the 8 billion that the EU allocated for support, he accuses Israel and Hungary of not helping.
Go Ukraine!
pizda ukraine. Слава России!
Lets starts a nuclear apocalypse! USA guilty)
🤮🤮🤮🤮
My uncle and his team captured few of these from out the hands of the Armenian PKK in 1994 Mardin. He was a Turkish Commando and also said it was a scary machine … .
Slava russia 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
Excellence
You could make a Red Mist with that at 900mts easy. 500mts is lazy targeting.
This weapon looks like a sniper
If the world hasn't noticed; Ukraine is a very innovative and resourceful country.
सवा लाख से एक लड़ाऊं, चिड़ियन ते मैं बाज तुड़ाऊं, तबै गुरु गोबिंद सिंह नाम कहाऊं",
"highly accurate…uptp 500M away"!?. An M4 carbine in 5.56 is accurate to 700M.
effectve up to 500 meters? so its not doing anything an ar or an ak isnt doing then right.
Muzzle brake.
damn this looks like a terminator gun for arnold
I remember a war clip from US forces in Afghanistan when some Taliban were 'sniping' them with a Dshk
May I have one in exchange for supporting your war?
i get MG 08/15 Vibes from that gun, the germans had the MG08 in WW1 but they wanted an LMG to move arround so they took the MG 08 and made some Bipods for it and took it with them XD the worlds first modern LMG with more then 30 rounds
It is ДШКМ-ТК (modernized-tactical) on a video and it has effective range up to 3500 metres with a proper scope (sniper machine gun).
ДШК. Запомни автор!!!! Не душка!
Damn, and I thought shooting the ma deuce was a chore — that looks beastly! 500m? More like 1000m no problem.
Its unofficial, but it seems that we in Ukraine have a church of the Machine God.
just want the war it'll stop soon or maybe Russian soldiers they want make it stop
Can i ask would it be better for ukraine go have 50 cal ot the dshka
I saw many of this weapon mounted on pickup trucks during the Libyan Civil War in 2011.
A trench warfare weapon??? highly doubt that
my grandma comes from ukrain, her last name was Dischka
Helped kill those huns in your helicopter flying over a country the British army shouldn't of been, any time someone brings up this machine gun I bring up the fact the ira used it against dirty Huns
Don't forget to pick up your brass.
Perfectly adaptable as a sensible home defense weapon or if you live in Texas, as a concealed firearm, perfectly legal in freedom loving states, California and Chicago would classify this as a WMD , capable of anhilating all americans 🤷♂️
They really need to pull a america and literally tape(ideally weld) 2 together, with the intersect point somewhere 500 yards out. And combine the trigger. As an emericam, why the hell not?!
I bought that for them
MOMENTS BEFORE DISASTER
DShK (GRAU — 56-P-542 index) is a Soviet heavy machine gun with a 12.7×108 mm cartridge. Developed on the basis of the design of the large-caliber machine gun DC.
In February 1939, the DShK was adopted by the Red Army under the designation "12.7 mm large—caliber Degtyarev – Shpagin machine gun of the 1938 model".
While maintaining the principle of operation of automation and the locking circuit of the barrel of the DC machine gun, the power mechanism was completely changed (it provided the supply of the cartridge belt either from the right side or from the left). Accordingly, the design of the cartridge belt (the so-called "crab" type) has also become different. The muzzle brake had a different design.
The large-caliber machine gun of the 1938/46 model is characterized by a relatively high firing efficiency. In terms of muzzle energy, which ranged from 18.8 to 19.2 kJ, it surpassed almost all existing machine gun systems of this caliber. Thanks to this, a large penetration effect of the bullet on armored targets has been achieved: at a range of 500 m, it penetrates high-hardness steel armor with a thickness of 15 mm (20 mm of medium-hardness armor type RHA).
The machine gun has a fairly high rate of fire, which determines the effectiveness of fire on fast-moving targets. Maintaining a high rate of fire, despite the increase in caliber, was facilitated by the introduction of a buffer device in the back of the machine gun. The elastic buffer also softens the impacts of the mobile system in the extreme rear position, which favorably affects the survivability of parts and accuracy of shooting.
We have so many of them in the nigerian army combating Boko Haram.
dnr it isnt ukrain
In Pakistan we called it dashaka
The same happened with Flak 88, the gun was so good that it became more known for killing tanks than for taking down aircrafts despite being originally designed as antiaircraft guns.
I'd like to point out there's a huge difference between Russian 12.7×108mm and American 50 BMG (12.7×99mm)
It's not just longer, the case has more volume. It's A LOT meaner round.
This is non sense.. Ukraine fights for liberty and decommunisation. So this weapon should not exist
Оце віддача у неї.
